How Long Does Baseball Glove Repair Take?
The honest answer is that it depends, but we can be specific about what it depends on and what you can expect when you send us a glove.
We have a queue
This is the most important thing to know upfront. We are a small operation. John Golomb does the restoration work himself, and that means the quality is consistent and the work is done correctly. It also means there is a wait. We typically have gloves lined up for several weeks to a few months depending on the time of year.
When you contact us for a quote, we will tell you where you are in the queue and give you a realistic timeline. We do not rush the work to clear the backlog. The whole point of sending a glove to us is that it gets done right.
The time of year matters
Spring is our busiest season. Players are coming out of winter, gloves are stiff or damaged, and everyone wants their equipment ready before the season starts. If you want your glove back before Opening Day, contact us in January or early February. Waiting until March means waiting longer.
Fall and winter are generally faster. If your glove needs work and you are not in a rush, the off-season is a good time to send it in.
Shipping time is on both ends
Factor in the time it takes to get the glove to us and back to you. We are in New York. Depending on where you are, that is two to five days each way. Pack your glove well. We recommend a padded box rather than a padded envelope for anything with structural damage.
What to do if you have a deadline
Tell us when you contact us. We will be honest with you about whether we can meet it. If we cannot, we will tell you that directly rather than take the job and rush it.
Good equipment deserves great care.
